What Michael B. Jordan Could Look Like As DCs Superman

The DC live-action universe is a fascinating place, and its one that always keeps the fandom on its toes. The film world has had plenty of peaks and valleys, and it's largely unclear how the shared universe will function in the next few years. One of the biggest question marks surrounding the DCEU is Henry Cavill's Superman, as its been heavily rumored that the actor is actually flying away from Smallville forever. While still unconfirmed, this report could indicate that DC needs a new Man of Steel, with plenty of names already being throw around. One of them is Creed actor Michael B. Jordan, in what could be his third comic book role. Now an artist has imagined Jordan as Superman, and it's awesome. Check it out.

This new image comes to us from artist Boss Logic, who frequently imagines actors as popular comic book characters. He once again struck gold with this rendering of Michael B. Jordan's Superman, which is in stark juxtaposition to the suit Henry Cavill has rocked in three DC movies. It's a comic book faithful adaptation of DC hero Val-Zod, who is a comic character who took on the mantle of Superman. Michael B. Jordan is the perfect actor to bring the character to live-action, so the above image is sure to excite all the hardcore fans who have been waiting for Val-Zod to become a larger character with casual audiences.

In the DC comics, Val-Zod is another Kryptonian who managed to escape the planet before its horrifying destruction. A friend of Kara Zor-El (aka Supergirl), he too crash landed on Earth and was adopted. A pacifist by nature, he was far more sheltered from the world while growing up and developing his abilities. It's a comic plot point that has accrued a cult following, and seems like a great way to keep the Man of Steel franchise going after Henry Cavill (and therefore Clark Kent) depart the DCEU.

With both Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck heavily rumored to be leaving their DC role, Warner Bros. is going to have to do some clever planning and writing to keep the shared live-action universe going. One possible route for seismic changes come with the developing Flash movie. If the Flashpoint comic is adapted, Ezra Miller's Flash could change the universe's timeline, therefore giving DC a chance to write out certain actors.

Regardless of plot lines, it would seemingly easy to bring Val-Zod into the DCEU, as long as the story is interesting enough. And landing a star like Michael B. Jordan may be the perfect way to get fans interested in a Superman.

Todd Phillips Releases Moody New Joker Image, Confirms Editing Is Underway

Todd Phillips' Joker wrapped filming a few months ago, and now the director has shared a moody new image of Joaquin Phoenix in character from the production, along with confirming that he's deep into the editing process. As was to be expected from this totally non-DCEU origin story for The Joker, the photo Phillips posted gives us plenty of gritty mystery to sink our comic obsessed brains into. Take a look:

As you can see, the black and white image of Joaquin Phoenix in character as soon-to-be-Joker Arthur Fleck is giving off many vibes without him doing much of anything at all. Actually, this shot, which was helpfully posted on Todd Phillips' Instagram page, could easily be a photo of Phoenix's Oscar nominated performance as Johnny Cash in Walk the Line. Arthur is clearly dressed for success, even though he doesn't look very happy, with his dress shirt, vest, slacks and slicked back hair. But, something is off...and I'm going to say it's the slightly clown-like dress shoes with what appear to be regular, I'm-going-for-a-run socks. Yeah, nothing about that sock and shoe combo would sit well with Mr. Cash.

Upon taking a closer look at the image, Arthur, who is a bit slumped over and way too close to that TV (You'll ruin your eyesight, man!), is doing two things that lead me to believe he's already begun his downward "I'm gonna need to cause some destruction" spiral. First, he's smoking, which, sure a lot of smokers do when they're bored, but many people also head for the fire sticks when they are seriously stressed out.

Secondly, remember how he's all slumped over and sitting too close to the television? Well, an inspection of the VHS tapes on the floor, two of which appear to be labeled things like "Murray #237" and "Murray #42," make me think that this is a scene where Arthur is going over and over recordings of his favorite talk show host, and it's probably the one who will be played by Robert De Niro and somehow lead to Arthur's future as a criminal mastermind.

When Todd Phillips confirmed that Joker had wrapped filming back in December, he did note that his work wasn't quite finished yet, as he still had to put all that, greatly revised, footage together to give us a film we didn't even know we needed. And, as you can see by his caption on this post, he's been doing just that. Now that Phillips has seen fit to show us this additional snippet of production, I'm really hoping that this scene is actually in the movie. It's looks pretty heavy and seems like it could be important to the story over all, but also I'd really just like to brag about correctly guessing what this scene is about.

Speaking of what this scene may be about, we don't exactly know how all the pieces of Joker will fit together, but we do have some idea of what the movie will be about. Joker, which takes place in the early 1980s, will follow Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, a failed stand up comedian who will be driven insane during the course of the film and turn into the crazed, clown makeup-wearing supervillain we all know and fear. And, again, while this movie is totally unconnected to what we once knew as the DCEU, there will be other familiar names from the comics appearing.

The rest of the cast of Joker will include Brett Cullen as a still-alive Thomas Wayne, Dante Pereira-Olson as a super tiny and adorable young Bruce Wayne and Douglas Hodge as trusted Wayne family ally Alfred Pennyworth. In addition, of course, to De Niro, the cast will be rounded out by Zazie Beetz's "cynical" single mom turned Arthur's love interest, Frances Conroy as Arthur's mom Penny, Marc Maron as an agent who works on the talk show hosted by De Niro's character, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Bryan Callen and Josh Pais. I don't know about you, but with Bruce still a little child person during Joker, I'm expecting most of these folks to turn up very dead by the end of the film.

We don't have too much time left now until we can feast upon Joker in theaters everywhere, because the film that finally nails down a backstory for one of DC's most popular villains will be out on October 4, 2019. 12 Great Movies Coming To Netflix In March

March is here, and with promises of spring weather, ever lighter days and Easter eggs around the corner, we get our usual batch of new films and TV shows that are debuting on Netflix's streaming platform. Out of the multitude of choices heading our way in the next calendar month, there's a select handful that really look to brighten our day. If you want to see the best and the brightest of this past month's incoming class, you can find them in our previous rundown. But today we cast our eyes to the future and are taking a look at the best movies coming to Netflix throughout March.

300Back in the days of Zack Snyder's then-up-and-coming career, 300 was handed to him as his first graphic novel adaptation set up at Warner Bros. His second major motion picture, the Frank Miller comic was brought to full color life by Snyder, while introducing us to a lot of the tools and tropes the director would use over his entire career. Enjoy this one as a throwback to a simpler era of standalone comic films, with the shine on Zack Snyder's star still intact.

AdventurelandWhile both Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg are pretty big deals right now, Adventureland is a shared project of theirs that landed at a rather interesting time. It was the dawning of a new age of tentpoles and indies alike, with the MCU just revving up the year before and Miramax on the decline as an indie stalwart. Due to both of those factors, this one seemed to be pigeonholed and overlooked in its initial release. You wouldn't be blamed if you haven't discovered writer/director Greg Mattola's ode to summer jobs and the romance that sometimes blossoms from them, so now's your chance to correct that.

BeerfestWith Super Troopers 2 is finally becoming a reality in just a couple of months, there's a lot of excitement in the air for the return of Broken Lizard to the big screen. Which raises the all-important question, are we finally going to get Weedfest within the near future? Of course, to be asking that question, you need to be familiar with the joy-inducing comedy that the troupe's film Beerfest managed to generate. And what do you know? It's on Netflix for all to enjoy as a sort of pre-game for Super Troopers 2! So if you're holding out hope for another long overdue sequel seeing the light, or if you just like Broken Lizard's damned funny faces, throw in Beerfest one or five times throughout March!

CasinoHere's a fun party game: mention the name Martin Scorsese and see what movies get mentioned first. Almost always, it's going to be Goodfellas, Raging Bull, The Departed and even The Wolf of Wall Street. Yet below the strata of intensely well known Scorsese, there are gems that need some more love from the public - flicks like The King of Comedy, or even Casino. Everyone loves to compare it to Goodfellas, as it's obviously a very mafia-centric story, but that comparison is unfair. While Goodfellas focuses on a guy who always wanted to be a gangster, the Robert De Niro lead in Casino just wants to run a square joint and take care of those that he loves. Though, in true Martin Scorsese form, it's not an easy bet.

Cruel IntentionsOut of all of the '90s nostalgia driven trips we've been subjected to, how has Cruel Intentions not managed to land a solid revival? Sure, there was that TV pilot a couple years back, and a new musical is heading to the stage this year in New York, but surely there would have been a remake/sequel by now, right? Then again, if you revisit this '90s classic for yourself, you'll probably see why it's so damned hard to bring Kathryn, Sebastian and Annette back into the modern day. For as everyone could tell with the two subpar, direct-to-DVD sequels (which have also found a home on Netflix this month), that first movie was truly lighting in a bottle.

Forgetting Sarah MarshallBreak-ups suck, and if Valentine's Day didn't go the way you'd hoped this year, you're probably still sorting through the wreckage. Netflix understands this, and as such, it's bringing Forgetting Sarah Marshall to your weary eyes in the name of laughing at heartache. Allegedly inspired by his failed relationship with a former co-star, this kinda rom/definitely com flick sees writer/star Jason Segel's Peter trying to escape his heartache by vacationing to Hawaii. Unfortunately for him, his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend are both in the same state. We won't spoil how it turns out in case you're new to this one, but we will say that it's well worth watching for the Dracula musical numbers alone.

GhostbustersComedy is a fickle genre, as blazing successes of today don't always age the way they should. Just ask anyone with a copy of Superbad who they haven't even spoken to in a good decade. And yet, the films that stick do so for the best reasons. Ghostbusters, in the wrong hands, might have wound up a relic that people talked about with fondness that was freeze dried from the moment of their first and only viewing as a kid. And yet, it's a fresh and vibrant movie that's definitely a product of its time, but one that doesn't completely anchor itself to its '80s origins. Yes, it's true, this film is immortal.

MoonIf it wasn't for Duncan Jones failing to cast Sam Rockwell in Mute, but really wanting to work with him anyway, Moon would have never happened. And while we've just received that other film in our Netflix queues as of today, it's that first film that still sticks in our minds. Rockwell's performance as Sam Bell, the lone employee of a lunar mining corporation with a big secret, is still a revelation after all this time. While there's a good chance he will win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar this year, we can't help but feel that there should have been more love for his role as Sam back in the day.

The Brothers GrimmTerry Gilliam is the king of underrated successes. Just ask any of his fans. With The Man Who Killed Don Quixote finally being completed, there's no better time to tear through the director's back catalog and pick out some favorites. As such, it's recommended that you check out The Brothers Grimm, a fantasy comedy that operates on such a fantastically efficient level, it feels like a tentpole with weight to it. With Heath Ledger and Matt Damon playing the titular brothers, who turn out to be con artists with fantastic storytelling abilities, seeing this pair fight off more than they can chew is a true delight.

Up In The AirWhile it certainly looked like the "topical choice" for the Academy Awards in its year of nomination, Jason Reitman's Up in the Air actually serves a deeper purpose. The George Clooney/Anna Kendrick road dramedy certainly gives a voice to the woes of the economic recession that hit Americans hard, as it actually cast real people that lost their jobs at the time to play some of the folks being let go by Clooney's corporate soldier. But underneath that plotline are tales of love, ambition and where you're actually going in life versus where you're hoping to land. At times tender, with some gut punches that help highlight its humanity, it's a movie that should be enjoyed on a day where you're really ready to parse it out.

Wet Hot American SummerMuch like film audiences the world over, Netflix is in love with Paul Rudd. With six of his ten best performances (in our opinion) being run in their streaming platform, you could very easily find yourself stuck in a Rut of Rudd. And if you choose to do so, we suggest throwing in Wet Hot American Summer in there somewhere, as it's a fun and jerky balance to some of the sweeter, more stoic work he's done in recent years. That, and it's Wet Hot American Summer. How do you not watch Wet Hot American Summer when it's staring you right in the face?!

Let Me InRemakes get a pretty bad name for the most part, as simply adapting something that's been done before feels like a waste of time, money and attention span. But if you can recapture what makes the original that damned brilliant, while at the same time spinning it in a slightly different way to make it its own thing, then you have a case for just how the concept works on its best day. Let Me In is one of those best days in remake history, as director Matt Reeves takes Let The Right One In and turns it into a film that still strikes the notes Tomas Alfredson's Swedish original did, but in a different and darker chord.

It's no secret that this modern age of entertainment has seen remakes, reboots and re-imaginings of popular properties come and go with a speed that would leave many race car drivers dizzy. Pretty much any well-known TV show, movie, comic, book, etc has either already been re-adapted for the screen or is currently being considered for another go-round in movie or television form.

Now, it would seem that the time has come, once again, for Charlie's Angels to come back with a new cast and an updated twist on the premise that's been around in two TV shows and a previous movie franchise reboot that begin in 2000. So, let's jump right in and see what this latest version of the tale has in store for us!

When Is The Charlie's Angels Release Date?Originally, Charlie's Angels was set to debut on November 1, 2019. As of late March of the same year, though, the movie was pushed a couple of weekends ahead to a November 15 release. So, why the change of just a couple of weeks? Well, the film's previous release date was set to put it up against the highly anticipated Terminator: Dark Fate, which will bring back both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger for what's being billed as a proper sequel to 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

While Charlie's Angels might not necessarily be looking at the same target audience as Dark Fate, the studio behind the film is said to believe that it will have strong legs overseas, which tends to be true for big budget action movies like Dark Fate as well. It would seem that they're trying to give Charlie and his (her?) Angels some more breathing room at the box office, both domestically and internationally.

Right now, there are no other action / adventure movies debuting on November 15, but Frozen 2 will finally hit theaters the next weekend, so time will tell whether or not Charlie's Angels can gain and hold onto an audience.

What Is The Charlie's Angels Rating?Movie edits are basically living, breathing entities that take on lives of their own. Well, ok, not really. But, the final edit of a movie that we end up seeing in theaters takes months to assemble, and can change, sometimes kind of a lot, up until a month or so away from the release date.

This means that, in every case, the MPAA waits until very near the release to bug studios about screening a finished cut of each film, so that what they watch and rate for us is actually the film that the filmmakers will be putting into theaters. As such, we won't know for sure what Charlie's Angels will be rated for quite some time yet, even though the movie is (as of late April 2019) listed as being in post-production, which is an indication that editing is already likely underway.

However, based on some previous comments about the tone of the new film, and what's come before, we can speculate. While the movie will be a comedy, star Kristen Stewart has said that it will lack the kitsch element that the Drew Barrymore films were fond of. Additionally, star and director Elizabeth Banks (more on her later) said while she was still developing the movie that she was working with the studio to see what would be right for Charlie's Angels, but was open to making it R-rated.

That said, both previous big screen installments were PG-13, but without that slightly silly element, we could see a Charlie's Angels that really kicks things up a notch and gives us an R-rated adventure.

What Is The Charlie's Angels Story?After months of hearing reports of there being multiple Bosleys and the Townsend Agency going global, late April 2019 brought us some clearer information regarding the new film. First of all, this is not a remake of either the original 1970s show or the early '00s movies, but a continuation of the franchise that will expand upon what we've already seen. According to star Elizabeth Banks (who we'll get into more in a bit), Charlie's Angels will, in fact, feature a Townsend Agency that has grown a lot since we first saw Sabrina, Jill and Kelly go undercover and fight crime.

The success of that first agency has led to branches all over the world, which will, naturally, lead to there being many more than three Angels and multiple Bosleys (one of whom will be played by Elizabeth Banks). Part of the focus of the movie will be on these groups of Angels working together to take down the bad guys, with Banks saying that the action will be more grounded than what we saw in the Drew Barrymore / Lucy Liu / Cameron Diaz films, adding that team dynamics will likely remind audiences of those seen in more recent Mission: Impossible movies.

And, if you're worried there will be too many Angels involved for you to get to know any of them well, don't worry. This new tale will still see the story from the point of view of three main ladies, played by Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott.

Who's Directing And Writing Charlie's Angels?Back in the fall of 2015, when a new Charlie's Angels movie was just starting to get off the ground, actress Elizabeth Banks became attached as director. While she was mostly known for her work in a wide variety of comedies, she had just released her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, which turned out well for her, as the movie was a hit with audiences and critics alike.

That success likely put her on Sony's radar for Charlie's Angels, and it seems that she had an idea for the movie that they loved as well, because not only did she nab the directing gig and get a part in the movie as one of the Bosleys, but she also stepped in to help write the script.

The screenplay has gone through a few writers at this point, including Evan Spiliotopoulos (Hercules), Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn and the team of Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, so it seems that Banks had a clearer idea of how to fulfill her desire to make the story matter and bring some richly developed characters to the screen.

Kristen Stewart - Sabina WilsonLet's start with the most well-known of the main three Angels, shall we? And, this isn't just because Kristen Stewart's Sabina is described as being the team's leader. Apparently, when director / writer / co-star Elizabeth Banks decided to take on this project, one of the first things that came to her was the idea that the erstwhile Twilight star should be one of Charlie's Angels. Here's what she said at a recent luncheon during CinemaCon:

Im somebody who believes that 90% of the job is casting. I mean, Im an actor so of course I believe that [laughs]. But I really do believe that is key. I want to see from Robert Downey Jr. play Tony Stark; I dont want to see anyone else do it. I want to see Kristen Stewart be a Charlies Angel and I didnt want to see [anyone else do it.]

Well, that's simple enough. Once Banks had one Angel in mind, she just worked to convince Kristen Stewart that the film was one she should be a part of. Aside from being the group leader, the only other thing we know about Sabina is that she's good at partying. How that will help in her work as an Angel, I don't know, but Stewart has taken on a wide variety of intriguing roles since her time with the sparkly vamps of her youth, so there's no doubt that the role, and film as a whole appealed to her, and that she'll bring something cool to her work as Sabina.

Naomi Scott - Elena HoughlinNext among our main Angels is Naomi Scott, who will be making her second blockbuster appearance just a few months before Charlie's Angels when she stars as Princess Jasmine in Disney's live action Aladdin. When Elizabeth Banks spoke about how she cast the other Angels, once she had Kristen Stewart on board, she noted that making sure she had actresses who could provide something very different from Stewart was important. Here's what Banks said about it during that same CinemaCon panel:

I wanted to give her other Angels that were not anything like her so that she could pull energy from and bounce off of and work off of. Because its the dynamism in the scenes that makes her really fun.

So, Banks wanted Scott's Elena, and the third Angel (who we'll talk about in a bit), to really provide a nice counterpoint to what Stewart was doing as Sabina. Scott, who also played the Pink Ranger in 2017's Power Rangers reboot (alongside Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa) is said to be portraying the heart of the movie, and her character is also the science whiz of the group, so we'll see before long what kind of energy she brings to the role, and Charlie's Angels as a whole.

Ella Balinska - Jane KanoTo complete the main Angelic triangle, Ella Balinska will round out the cast as Jane Kano. All we know about Jane so far is that she's an ex-MI6 agent who's very skilled. Skilled at what, you might ask? Well, she survived a stint in MI-6, so I imagine she's skilled at lots of fancy spy-type things that will make her a wonderful addition to the Charlie's Angels team.

You can be forgiven for not having heard of Ella Balinska at this point, as the London-born actress has mostly worked in TV in her home country, and just got her first film credit in 2015. But, considering the effort that Elizabeth Banks has put into this project from the beginning, and her desire to have all the characters have depth and personality, there's no doubt that Balinska (and Jane) will help make the team great fun to watch.

Djimon Hounsou - BosleyAs was mentioned earlier, while there is a main team of Angels that we will follow as they attempt to foil some fiendish plot, the ladies will be working in conjunction with other groups of Angels. Because of this, the film will have multiple Bosleys, with the name now being used as a title within the much-expanded Townsend Agency. Right now, we only know for sure that the movie will have three of these characters, and Djimon Hounsou will be joining Elizabeth Banks in this role.

We don't know what city (or country) Hounsou's Angels will operate out of, but considering the actor's action-heavy resume, it's possible we might actually get to see him get in on some of the adventure. The two-time Oscar nominee has now been in some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, with his work being seen in Captain Marvel, Aquaman, Shazam! and Guardians of the Galaxy, along with films like In America, Gladiator, Furious 7 and the upcoming Kingsmen: The Great Game.

Patrick Stewart - BosleyAnd now we come to Bosely number three, who will be portrayed by a man known for leading many a team of intrepid adventurers as they try to save the world. Patrick Stewart, probably best known either as Star Trek's Jean-Luc Picard or X-Men's Charles Xavier, looks to be rounding out our Bosley contingent for this iteration of Charlie's Angels.

Just like with the Bosley played by Djimon Hounsou, though, we don't know where Stewart's Bosley and his particular Angels will call home. And, while the acclaimed actor certainly has the gravitas to lead his Angels with Shakespearean class, it would be nice if his Bosley allowed Stewart to bring some of his daffy American Dad-esq tendencies to the role, just so we could get a different version of big screen leadership from Sir Patrick Stewart.

Noah Centineo - LangstonOK, everyone can go ahead and get really excited about Charlie's Angels now, because your favorite rom-com boyfriend, Noah Centineo, has a part in the film. Fittingly, the To All The Boys I've Loved Before star is rumored to be playing a character named Langston, the love interest of one of the Angels. While we don't know anything else about his character, my bet is on him either being totally in the dark about his potential love's line of work, or being a bad guy who's cozying up to the Angel in the hopes of getting info he shouldn't be able to get.

After breaking out on the Freeform show The Fosters, Centineo has quickly become known for his Netflix teen romantic comedies, which also include Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and The Perfect Date. He's currently filming the sequel for To All The Boys I've Loved Before, and recently confirmed that he'll be taking on the super-powered role of He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe remake.
